Hunting

Ahurei Adventures has been providing guided hunting in Te Urewera for many years and they have extensive local knowledge of deer movements and deer behaviour in the area. Their guides are very experienced local Maori hunters who have grown up in this remote and rugged area and are skilled bushmen. Not only will they give you an awesome hunting experience but they can also share fascinating stories about local history and sites of interest.

Ahurei Adventures provides guided hunting on private Maori land at White's Clearing in the heart of Te Urewera - one of the few places in the world where you can see wild deer grazing all around you. Ahurei Adventures has exclusive access to this area. The hunting cabin is basic but comfortable. It can be hired out exclusively or shared with others.

Hunting is seasonal from October to April and the roar happens sometime during late March and April.

Ahurei Adventures provide a complete coordination service for your hunting trip. Their services include guiding, catering, accommodation, a shuttle service, and vehicle security.
