Ahurei Adventures is owned and operated by husband and wife team Richard and Meriann White. They have been hosting and guiding visitors within this region for many many years.

Located in Ruatahuna, in the heart of Te Urewera, they focus their tours on the Waiau Valley, a region they have special ties to as a family. Richard is the lead guide and knows the Waiau Valley intimately - including many sites of historical importance, fascinating local stories, and the many species of indigenous plants and animals that you will encounter. He is also a very experienced bushman so you will be in safe hands.

Whether you are staying with the White family on Oputao marae, or journeying into the remote and rugged bush-clad valley of the Waiau, they will give you a truly memorable experience. As Tuhoe people, the Maori tribe from Te Urewera, they will also be able to give you a unique perspective of the region and the special connection they have with these lands.
